The proposals have been developed through a rigorous process involving a strategic assessment of the planning policy context, site evaluation, and market assessment. The proposals provide the optimum viable development which satisfies the planning policy requirements and the economic and operational requirements of the client.
The contemporary style and form of the building is a direct response to the site’s context. The immediate surroundings are characterized by post 1919 two storey red brick terraced houses and some newer detached and semi detached brown brick housing. The use on red brick in the proposed elevations and the scale of the predominant elevation on Elliot Street are designed to reflect this context. The contemporary style challenges the traditional expectation of a care facility and reflects the 21st century standards of care that the client intends to provide.
