We were commissioned by the clients to prepare designs for a new house to replace the current house on the site. The brief was specific in requiring a contemporary house full of light for their young family to enjoy. Principal design decisions included the creation of a central atrium circulation space that divides the house into two principal zones: living spaces are provided on the right with sleeping spaces on the left. The principal living area is located at first floor with access to the main bedrooms across the central atrium.
Materials were chosen to reflect the contemporary nature of the design and are principally through coloured render with timber cladding and aluminium glazing. The building is designed to be constructed utilizing thin joint masonry construction for thermal efficiency and speed.
